Expertise: Over 30 years’ experience

In the 1960s, engineers succeeded in producing a red light from a diode made of a semi-conductor composed of gallium, arsenic and phosphorus. From this they developed an industrial manufacturing process for LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). in the 1970s these LEDs developed further and came to be applied throughout industry as indicator lights in control panels.

Pierre Valancogne, a road sign engineer, immediately realized how useful these would be in his profession, combining as they did remarkable reliability and low energy consumption. By assembling these diodes into dedicated units, he could create marker-lighting that needed very little maintenance and very small operating budgets. As a result, he started up LEC Lyon, a company dedicated to marker-lighting.

Many well-known specifiers – notably the City of Paris – are trialing these innovations to provide markings and decorations that bring originality to prestigious works (Cour d’honneur du Palais Royal, Place Vendôme, Esplanade des invalides, etc…)

For over 30 years, LEC has fitted hundreds of major projects with marking-lighting and spotlights that continue to bear witness to their longevity. the Greenwich Meridian, the bridges of Dublin, the Mont-Blanc tunnel, the Monserrate Palace in Portugal, the Château de Versailles, are among the most prestigious examples.

the fantastic evolution of lighting efficiency and LED power allow LEC to continually offer new lighting and marking solutions, with devices that are increasingly compact and efficient, based on a rigorously controlled high-quality French manufacturing process.

Project contractors justifiably find in LEC the competence that guarantees the longevity that they need for their creations.
