Quality, a longevity factor

The manufacturing quality of leds
The fabrication of “wafers” and encapsulation of diodes are operations that require very high technical capability, with very high technology processes and equipment. We need to realize that a large proportion of the world production of LEDs is carried out at very low prices that prohibit such leading edge technology, processes and equipment. Pro- ducts produced in this way do not reach the stated lifetimes at all. As there are no standards or norms to classify longevity, LEC has trialled dozens of makes of LEDs on its own test benches and has selected those sufficiently good to be incorporated in its products.

Heat management quality
An LED produces heat in proportion to the current that is passed through it. But a higher operating temperature means lower performance and lifetime to combat this constraint, LEC takes special care over the cooling characteristics of its marker-lighting and spotlights, and does not hesitate when necessary to reduce li- ghting performance in favour of longevity.

Manufacturing quality
All manufacturing is fully carried out near Lyon under our control. All the stages of our process, from design to delivery, are certified iSO 9001 (quality) Version 2000 since 2002. LEC products clearly comply with all norms and corresponding certifications (iK, iP, EC marking, fire regulations, etc). All our devices are rigorously tested: Each unit undergoes sealtightness tests (iP 68) and computer-controlled systematic debugging in climate-controlled cabinets. this attention to quality has for a long time allowed LEC to offer a two-year guarantee.

Installation quality
Our marker-lighting is often installed in unusual conditions, with difficult access. LEC provides installers with all the necessary fixing accessories adapted to the conditions along with detailed installation instructions.

Design quality
The team in charge of designing LEC marker-lighting (in collaboration with the agency LuCANE Design) pays special care with each product to reconcile its technical, reliability, ergonomic, aesthetic and environmental qualities.

Envelope quality
Electronic components, including LEDs, cannot function reliably unless they are fully protected from moisture. LEC marker-lights and spotlights are generally ins- talled in public places and subjected to aggression from weather, traffic, flooding, even vandalism. they have to withstand it all. LEC overdesigns windows and envelope thickness, and uses submersible cable (AD8) and devices with reinforced seals.
