The MuCEM enhanced by light
An architectural masterpiece by Rudy Ricciotti, the MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) rises as a “building of stone, water and wind,” in the words of its architect.
At nightfall, this sculpted monolith becomes a magical beacon shimmering in green and blue, brought to life by the lighting concept imagined by Yann Kersalé.
The lace-like concrete skin is bathed in shifting light thanks to a series of customised bi-colour (blue–green) projectors carefully positioned across the structure.
Other elements of the building are subtly illuminated:
- The footbridge, lit from below by BELVAL – 5631 units.
- The terrace, dotted with BORDEAUX – 1530 recessed mini-markers.
- The moats, also highlighted by BELVAL – 5631 linear fixtures.
A dreamlike lighting scheme, perfectly aligned with the site’s strong Mediterranean identity.
